Everything About Digital Planning
For the past couple of years, I've found myself increasingly captivated by the realm of digital planning. It seemed like the perfect time to distill everything I've learned and share it, especially for those curious about embarking on their own digital planning adventures.
The Beginning of My Digital Planning
My venture into digital planning began when I got an iPad and Apple Pencil. While my experiences are anchored in these tools, it's worth noting that digital planning is entirely feasible on Android tablets as well. The allure of digital planning, for me, hinges on several factors. The act of using a "pencil" retains a tactile sensation akin to traditional planning. Yet, the true charm lies in the ability to manage numerous notebooks and planners without sacrificing physical space. The convenience of collecting stickers without the need for physical organization is another significant perk. I'm always willing to trade off the tactile experience for the freedom to craft anywhere, anytime, sans the need for a bookshelf brimming with completed projects.
Future Planning vs Memory Planning
Understanding the difference between future planning and memory planning was an important distinction for me. While I engage in some future planning, my digital planner is not my go-to while out and about. Instead, I use it primarily to organize my thoughts for the upcoming week. Memory keeping—journaling about events after they've occurred—takes up the bulk of my digital planning. I prefer the structured approach of using a planner for this purpose over a blank canvas or traditional journal.
My Toolkit
- Hardware: An iPad and Apple Pencil form the core of my digital planning setup.
- Software: GoodNotes is my note-taking app of choice
- This planner from Ellymentary on Etsy.
Other notetaking apps are available to use besides Goodnotes, and obviously what planner you choose will be very personal depending on what you hope to accomplish.
Sticker Heaven
For fellow sticker aficionados, digital planning can really help you indulge your sticker love, without things getting overwhelming. I enjoy organizing my digital stickers in GoodNotes notebooks. My stickers come from a mix of Etsy sellers and my own designs, which I try to release monthly. Here are a few places to find stellar digital stickers:
- BabaNanaandCO on Etsy
- SinyoungStudio on Esty
- Rachel Etrog on The Lilypad
- Sahin Designs
The world of digital planning stickers is vast and vibrant, offering endless possibilities for customization and creativity.
If you're just dipping your toes into digital planning, I hope my insights offer a helpful starting point. For a deeper dive, "Getting Started with Digital Planning" is another great resource. And to all the digital planning veterans out there, I'd love to hear your tips, favorite planners, and sticker sources in the comments below!
Happy planning!
